Situated on the banks of the River Clyde, the Riverside Campus at City of Glasgow College offers a unique, industry-focused learning environment with a strong emphasis on nautical science, maritime training and engineering in Glasgow

Purpose-built to support some of the College’s most specialist courses, the campus provides students with access to world-class facilities designed to reflect real working conditions in global industries.

World Class Training Facilities

Riverside Campus is home to some of the most advanced training resources of their kind in the UK, including:

  • £2.5 million state-of-the-art shipping simulation hub, creating Europe’s largest and most advanced facility of its kind.
  • Marine engineering and training workshops.
  • Marine skills centre including jetty, rescue lifeboats and a free fall lifeboat.
  • Engineering workshop with a 20-tonne ship's engine.
  • Engineering and fabrication workshops.

This allows the College to train over 50% of the UK’s Merchant Navy Officers and Cadets while welcoming learners from around the world. Our students develop practical, hands-on skills in highly realistic settings, helping them prepare for careers at sea and in industry.

A Unique Learning Environment

With its waterfront location, the campus provides an inspiring setting for study, particularly for those pursuing maritime careers. The environment reflects Glasgow’s rich shipbuilding heritage while supporting modern, forward-looking industries.

Students benefit from:

  • Modern classrooms and IT suites.
  • Study and breakout spaces.
  • On-site café and social areas.
  • Dedicated student support services.

Riverside Campus Library

The library offers students a range of study spaces and subject-supporting books and journals, centrally located on Level 1.

Students have access to a quiet study area, individual study spaces and booths for group work, higher tables for chart work, a whiteboard for peer-to-peer learning, PCs and Macs and a copy/print area close to the library service point.

The self-service kiosk offers the option to issue and return books and laptops are available to borrow while the library is staffed. Students can use both college campus libraries and can request that library books are transferred between libraries, if needed.
