Overview

If you want a career in coaching, sport, health or fitness, this course offers a great introduction to many key topics and is a great starting point. It will provide you with knowledge of exercise anatomy, exercise prescription, training and sports participation, giving you a sound basis from which to progress .

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

  • Three Standard Grades at level 4; OR
  • Three National Qualifications at level 4; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications and experience will be considered.

 

You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in the subject. The interview process will involve small group games practice, so please bring suitable indoor gym wear.

  • Introduction to Developing Leadership within Physical Activities.
  • Human Anatomy.
  • Physiology and Physical Activities.
  • Team Sports.
  • Sports Coaching Studies.
  • Volleyball.
  • Basketball.
  • Circuit and Resistance Training.
  • First Aid.

External visits and activities are also planned throughout the year to help your knowledge.

 

After the course

Careers

This course prepares you for a career as a local authority sports attendant, or working in community sports provision.

Continuing Study

Successful students can progress to Level 6 programmes in NQ Health, Fitness & Sports Performance, or NQ Sports Coaching.
