Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
- Two Highers at Grade C or above in relevant* subjects;
- National 5 in Maths or Applied Maths
- National Qualification in Hospitality level 6 or related subject; OR
- Other equivalent qualifications or experience.
* relevant subjects include Administration, Business Management, Economics, English, Geography, History, Mathematics or Modern Studies

ESOL entry requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

In 2023-24, we started work experience takeover days with Premier Inn. Students experience three days of work experience in a new role within a live working environment, preparing them for work within the industry.
We also offer students a variety of paid work placements in some of Glasgow’s top establishments, which you can apply for in August, once you've been accepted onto the course. We host at least two industry-specific Job Fairs each year, with over 15 employers attending to recruit for part-time and full-time positions. Previous employers attending include Cameron House Hotel, Dakota Hotels, IHG Hotels, Celinos restaurant, Crerar Hotels, Rannoch Resort, Staff Finders and many more.
Teaching
How the course is taught
You will be taught in a variety of ways on the course. Practical subjects will be taught in Scholars' restaurant and bar area and City Bistro. Theoretical subjects will be taught using various teaching methods, including case studies, group activities, exercises and project-based work.
Assessment methods
The course uses a number of assessment methods. You will be assessed on your practical skills in Scholars' Restaurant and City Bistro. Other assessments may be home-based in the form of essays, projects and reports.

Dress code
You will be required to wear a uniform in our practical areas - Scholars' Restaurant. Information on the purchase of uniforms will be provided when you are offered a place on the course and further guidance will be given at Induction.
