    The new HND in Marketing Management develops skills in both traditional and digital marketing research, analysis and planning through the application of theory. This HND also focuses on consumer behaviour, sales and brand management.  This course will successfully prepare you for articulation onto university and develop skills for employment.  There is a high level of employer engagement.  The course is partnered with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and their employer/education opportunities. 

    Year 1 of this programme will allow you to achieve the HNC in Marketing Communications and allow you to continue on to the HND Marketing Management Year 2.

    This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 8.

    Entry requirements

    Minimum entry requirements

    • Two Highers at Grade C or above in relevant* subjects; OR
    • NC or NQ qualification at SCQF level 6 in a relevant business subject; OR
    • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

    * relevant subjects include English, Business Management, Economics, History, Mathematics, Media or a Science subject.

    ESOL entry requirements

    Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

    • Financial Accounting Statements: An Intro, Economic Issues: An Intro. 
    • Direct Marketing. 
    • Advertising: Researching & Planning a Local Campaign.

    After the course

    This award will prepare you to enter employment in marketing and business at the level of marketing assistant, trainee manager/executive or equivalent across the private and public sector.

    How the course is taught

    Learning is blended and interactive using current theory and industry practice.  Active learning allows you to develop skills and a portfolio of work in order to demonstrate your competence to future employers/decision-makers.

    Assessment methods

    The course is assessed on a continuous basis and takes the form of closed/open book assessments, reports, projects and presentations.  Assessments are oral, written and online.
