    Overview

    This course provides the knowledge and skills you'll need to kick-start your career in the creative media industry. The course is delivered by highly qualified lecturers who have a wealth of experience within the media industry. Highly practical, it prepares you for a wide variety of media occupations (please see the "After the Course" section, below, to find out more).

    This course is placed on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework at Level 6. 

    Entry requirements

    Minimum entry requirements

    • Two National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above including English; OR
    • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

    Additional selection requirements

    • You'll be invited for a group and/or individual interview where you can find out more about the course and tell us why you're interested in this subject area or we'll make an offer based on your application form.
    • You'll be given a short written exercise (around 200 words) so we can review your writing style, syntax, spelling and grammar.

    ESOL entry requirements

    Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

    Continuing Study

    It is possible for successful students to progress to a range of course within the college, such as HNC Media, HNC Media with Journalism, HND Practical Journalism, HNC/D Creative Industries: Television.

    Any application will be subject to places being available and certain conditions.

    Teaching

    How the course is taught

    Teaching on this course employs a wide variety of experiences, from tutor-led lectures to individual and group work ao=round a project based delivery. Emphasis will be placed on an individual student-centred approach to learning. You'll benefit from a variety of guest speakers and industry-based projects.

    The course is taught through a mixture of online and in-college teaching. This is delivered through a variety of approaches, from tutor delivery to breakout rooms and one-to-one delivery, incorporating a variety of presentations, quizzes and discussions.

    Assessment methods

    Assessment will be continuous with a variety of supervised open book assessments. This means that several assessments may be issued during busy weeks of the year.
