PROGRESSING TO UNIVERSITY
A qualification from City of Glasgow College is an excellent foundation for degree-level study. Lots of our students go on to university after college, and to help you with this we have a University Information Day in October each year where you can meet with Scotland’s universities and talk to them about their courses, campuses and support packages. We also work in partnership with local universities to offer opportunities for you to continue studying at City of Glasgow College, and achieve your degree here.
We are proud to offer many courses that provide direct, formal pathways to university. Many of our students successfully transition to top universities across Scotland and the UK after completing their studies with us. Your learning experience at college is structured to ensure you are fully prepared for the academic rigour of a degree.
Progression with HNCs and HNDs
Our Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Higher National Diploma (HND) qualifications are highly recognised and respected by university admissions teams. Choosing to study an HNC or HND with us can offer you the opportunity for advanced entry into a related university degree. This means you could potentially secure a place directly into Year 2 (with an HNC) or even Year 3 (with an HND) of a relevant programme.
Key Benefits of College to University Progression
- Advanced Entry: Save time by progressing straight into the second or third year of your chosen degree.
- Formal Articulation Agreements: We have formal agreements with institutions including the University of Glasgow and the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), offering entry into Year 2 or Year 3 of specific degree programmes.
- Strong Partnership Links: Schemes such as the Degree Link with Robert Gordon University (RGU) provide clear, guaranteed progression pathways for many subjects.
- Essential Skills: Gain practical, job-ready skills alongside the academic knowledge required to succeed at university.
