What is the WorldSkills Academy?
Established in 2013, the WorldSkills Academy at City of Glasgow College has had outstanding success growing the WorldSkills programme from no involvement at all to National, European and International success.
The Academy has achieved this success by supporting students to achieve the highest standards of skills excellence in WorldSkills competitions. Participation in WorldSkills has now become a significant part of the City of Glasgow College Strategic Plan, spanning a wide range of activities, stakeholders and outcomes. The College is widely recognised internationally as a premier college leading the way in Technical and Vocational Education and Training. To sustain and grow this level of success the WorldSkills Academy team now exercises day to day oversight of more than 50 staff including lecturers, trainers, skills experts (UK and international), coaches and consultants, covering around 30 skills areas.
This work based learning model of developing skills excellence is recognised as sector leading, informing, influencing and inspiring young people to participate in technical education and apprenticeships across Glasgow, Scotland and beyond.
