    • Engineering Maths 1 & 2.
    • Principles of Engineering Systems
    • Engineering Communication.
    • Engineering Measurement and Systems Monitoring.
    • Graded Unit 1
    • DC/AC Principles.
    • Three Phase Systems.
    • Safety Engineering.
    • Engineering Principles.
    • Materials Selection.
    • Computer Programming.
    • CAD for Engineers.

The Graded Unit exam is held in May, which assesses all of the core subjects.

    After the course

    Careers

You can apply for technician or apprentice roles within the industry.

    Continuing Study

    • We have articulation agreements with Glasgow Caledonian University and Napier to gain advanced entry to their degree programmes.
    • We do not offer an HND in Engineering Systems at City of Glasgow College.

Year 2 entry to other universities may be available.  This can be done through a UCAS application.  The college will support you through this process.

    Teaching

    How the course is taught

The course is taught on a full-time basis - 3 days per week at our Riverside campus.  Part-time routes are also available for apprentices.

    Assessment methods

This is predominantly a theory-based HNC with 15 credits.  Some units are assessed via a closed book, end of unit exam, other units are assessed via reports and smaller class tests.

Towards the end of the year, students undertake their Graded Unit 1 exam.  This comprises elements of a closed book assessment and a case study.

All units are graded as Pass/Fail, other than the Graded Unit, which is graded A, B, C or Fail.

    Additional Information

    Materials

All notes are available as handouts or accessible through Canvas, our VLE.
