Overview

This Introduction to Autodesk Revit Architecture course is designed to introduce you to the essential tools and workflows of Building Information Modeling (BIM)/Digital Construction using Revit. Tailored specifically for architectural applications, this course focuses on the design, modeling, and documentation of architectural projects, equipping learners with the skills required to produce annotated drawings to show work, anything from floor plans to 3D renders.

While you are a student, you will have free access to download both Autodesk software and free Microsoft Office 365 to use at home.

As a student, out with the evening class delivery as part of the course, you will also have access to the college library, which has all the software you need to practice what you learn as well as access to CIS to access the latest BS documents etc.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

No prior experience in Revit is necessary, but a basic understanding of architectural design principles is recommended.

What you study

You will study the following modules as part of this course:
  • Introduction to Revit.
  • User Interface Tour, Manipulation, and Visualisation Control.
  • Wall Creation and Manipulation and Basic Curtain Walls.
  • Floors, Roofs, and Ceilings.
  • Windows, Doors, Components, and System Family Editing.
  • Basic Schedules; Legends; Sheet Compilation and Publication.
  • Geometry Formation, In-Place Families, Massing Tools.
  • Stairs; Ramps; Railings.
  • Room Date and Colour Fill.
  • 2D Drafting and Annotation.

This course can provide insight into some of the full-time courses offered at the college, which can then expand your skills and technical knowledge, leading you towards a degree in Architectural Engineering, Architectural Studies, Architectural Technology, Technology Teaching, or a career as an Architectural Technician.
