    If you’re passionate about competitive gaming and the industry around Esports, and want to turn that interest into real opportunities, this NQ qualification is your first step.

    You’ll learn how to organise and run Esports events, manage teams, and explore the digital skills that power this global phenomenon. From social media management and digital media creation to games development and performance analysis, you’ll gain hands-on experience with the tools and techniques used by professionals.

    You’ll also work with industry-standard hardware and software and get access to popular Esports titles.

    You’ll have the chance to compete for a place in our Purple Unicorns Esports squad and compete in the British Esports Student Championships in games like Rocket League, Valorant, CS:GO, and DOTA 2.

    Entry requirements

    Minimum entry requirements

    • Three National 5 qualifications at Grade C or above, preferably including English and Mathematics; OR
    • Other equivalent qualifications or experience.

    ESOL entry requirements

    Applicants whose first language is not English should have minimum SQA ESOL National 5 or equivalent for NC/NQ courses and ESOL Higher or equivalent for HNC/D courses.

    This course prepares you for progression to HN level study in a range of digital media specialisms.

    Continuing Study

    Progression to HN courses is based on performance, completion of all coursework and a suitable tutor reference.

    Students studying on this NQ course can progress to a wide range of HN level courses, including HNC Computer Games Development.

    Teaching

    How the course is taught

    Students will use industry standard software (including access to popular Esports titles) and hardware (PC, VR, mobile devices).

    The course is taught in our Esports Training Room.

    This course will use a range of assessment methods including - project-based assessment & practical assessments.
