College Partnership Helps Launch Gender Violence Prevention Campaign in Brazil

City of Glasgow College’s ongoing partnership with Instituto Federal do Ceará (IFCE), Brazil, has taken another significant step forward in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).

Inspired by posters created by the College’s Student Services team, IFCE has now designed and launched their own powerful awareness materials. Over 1,320 posters, funded by the British Council, have been printed and placed on the back of toilet cubicle doors across all 33 IFCE campuses.

This is an achievement for a federal education institution in Brazil, where visual campaigns and signage are rarely used in campus environments. The initiative is already being seen as a trailblazing project, helping to make educational spaces safer and reinforcing the commitment to tackling gender violence.

In addition to the posters, IFCE has launched a gender violence awareness, prevention, and intervention campaign, supported by a video message from City of Glasgow College.

The video is being shown at IFCE’s roadshow events this week: Watch here.

Work is also underway to finalise a Gender Violence Awareness e-learning programme, designed collaboratively across languages and time zones. This programme, supported by Jane McFarlane from the College’s Organisational Development team, will soon be rolled out to all staff and students at IFCE.

Lecturer in Global Skills at the College, LeeAnn Clulow said:

"This project continues to show the transformative power of collaboration. The progress we've made is a testament to what can happen when passionate people come together with a shared purpose. The enthusiasm and commitment from our international partners - and equally, the incredible support from our colleagues here at CoGC - have been instrumental. Their belief in the project has not only propelled it forward but has truly amplified its impact."

This partnership continues to demonstrate the positive global impact of the College’s commitment to inclusion, equality, and safeguarding.
