Glasgow to Launch No-Code Pilot Supporting Digital Founders and Workforce Upskilling

City of Glasgow College is proud to play a leading role in a new digital skills pilot launching in October 2025 that will empower early-stage tech founders and upskill students through no-code app development.

Commissioned by Glasgow City Council and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the Glasgow No-Code programme will run until March 2026. The initiative aims to foster inclusive digital innovation, reduce barriers to entrepreneurship and build a workforce confident in the tools of a rapidly evolving tech economy.

No-code development allows apps to be created without traditional programming skills by using visual interfaces and AI-powered prompts. This approach gives students, staff and entrepreneurs a faster, more accessible way to design, connect and deploy software solutions.

The programme will be delivered in partnership with UK venture studio Greater Things Ltd., who will lead the Ideas2App incubator and pre-accelerator, helping idea-stage founders turn concepts into scalable products and validated business propositions.

City of Glasgow College will work alongside Glasgow Kelvin College and Glasgow Clyde College to pilot a training curriculum where external no-code professionals, supported by college tutors, will co-deliver online bootcamps for a diverse student cohort.

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Accelerator will provide additional start-up support including mentoring, workshops and access to its entrepreneurial network through the Glasgow Accelerator Hub.

Carla Gethin, Vice Principal - Corporate Development & Innovation at City of Glasgow College, said:

“The Glasgow No-Code programme marks an exciting new chapter for colleges across the city. We're equipping students, staff and local businesses with no-code skills and practical app development training, unlocking a powerful toolkit for innovation and accessibility. Together with Glasgow City Council, RBS and Greater Things, we’re building an ecosystem tailored to the needs of Glasgow’s colleges, students, staff and businesses.”

Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, added:

“This pilot is about unlocking the full potential of Glasgow’s diverse talent pool. By combining no-code technology with expert-led training and start-up support, we’re laying foundations to bridge the digital skills gap and drive local innovation and economic growth.”

The Glasgow No-Code programme officially launches in October 2025, with applications for the Ideas2App incubator opening at that time. With £250,000 of UK Government funding, this pilot is set to spark new opportunities for students, entrepreneurs and businesses across the city.
