Coronavirus Update

Following advice from Government, the college is closed until further notice as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and unfortunately all planned block 3 2019/20 evening and weekend courses have been cancelled.  Our Finance team are currently working on refunding all the students who have booked and paid for a block 3 course.  The launch of our Course bookings for the 2020/21 session has also been delayed to allow additional time for the college to assess the future impact of the current building closure and Government restrictions.  Further information will be available here in due course.

My course has been cancelled.  Will I receive a refund for my course?

We will be in contact with students on leisure courses.  Students on these courses will receive a pro-rata refund. 

Students on vocational courses NC/HNC/HND/Diploma/Professional courses – we will be contacting the curriculum teams and will advise students with guidance on whether courses can be completed online and what arrangements can be put in place.

I have booked onto a course that is starting soon.  Will I receive a refund?

The college focus remains firmly on the health and well-being of all our staff and students.  We have been following closely the advice set out by the UK and Scottish Governments.  We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates as necessary.  ​Should courses be completely cancelled, then full refunds will be given.

When can I book an evening or weekend course?

What if I can't book online?

What happens if a course is full?

Please email ptadmissions@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk and your name can be added to the waiting list for that course.

What happens when I book?

You'll be asked to complete a simple registration process to create your account and complete the booking process. You'll need a current email and we'll use this to contact you if we need to. Once you’ve set this up, you can view your booked courses and confirm the start date, time, location and fee.

What about fees?

Our evening and weekend courses have a fee which is shown on the course information page but you may get some help depending on your income. 

Do you offer fee waivers?

On some courses we have a limited number of fee waivers. To check availability email ptadmissions@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk.  To hold your fee waiver place you'll be asked for a £5 deposit.  We will send you the college bank details and you can pay this directly to the college.  We will also send the fee waiver application form.  Please complete and return these to us with proof of eligibility within 5 working days to secure your place.

Skills Development Scotland Individual Training Accounts

Important update

The Individual Training Account scheme is currently closed to new applicants.  For further information please refer to the ITA website https://www.myworldofwork.co.uk/learn-and-train/sds-individual-training-accounts-ita

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) are for people who are 16 or over, living in Scotland and either in low paid work or actively seeking work. You must have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on certain benefits to be eligible to get up to £200 towards the costs of learning or training.

You can apply for an ITA if you are not undertaking any secondary, further or higher education, SDS funded training or participating on the Community Jobs Scotland programme.

ITAs are available if you are interested in learning something new or developing an existing skill to support you in work. There is a wide range of courses to choose from and you can study with any ITA approved learning provider, including learning centres, local colleges, universities and private training providers.

Cancellations made before the course start date will result in a 20% administration charge of the course fee.

Failure to attend the course within 10 days of the course start date will result in an invoice being sent for the full course fee by the Finance Department.  Please contact Finance by email finance@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk for further information.

What if my employer, or another company is paying for my course?

To book please email ptadmissions@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk. We'll need your personal details and your company’s details.  Once you’ve booked your course you'll receive a Company Authorisation form by email which should be returned to finance@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk. before the start date of the course.

What if I want to book for someone else, or book a course as a gift?

You can book by sending an email ptadmissions@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk we will send you a pro-forma which has the college bank details and you can pay this directly to the college   You’ll need to have the student’s name, date of birth and information about any additional support they might need together with your contact details.  

What if I change my mind, or want to cancel?

If you’ve booked a course and need to cancel before the course has started we’ll offer a refund less 20% of the course fee, for administration.  If you do not bring in your documentation for a Fee Waiver within the 5 working days the £5 is non-refundable.  If you choose to withdraw once a course has started, unfortunately, we cannot offer you a refund. Transfers from one course to another course or from one term to another term are generally treated as a withdrawal.

What if the college cancels the course?

Courses will only run where there are a sufficient number of bookings. If you’ve booked and we need to cancel the course we’ll give you a full refund. We’ll let you know as soon as possible if the course is to be cancelled and we will use your email and telephone details to contact you directly. 

Is there parking available?

There is no dedicated parking for students at our City Centre Campus.  There is, however, some limited car parking spaces for those with mobility difficulties (blue badge holders) which are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.   There is free street parking after 6pm and parking is available in Buchanan Galleries at a cost of £2.00 for entry after 5pm until 11.30pm.

Under 16’s
If you have booked a place and are under 16 you will receive a Parent/Guardian Consent Form which you must complete and your parent/guardian must sign and return to ptadmissions@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk. We are unable to enrol children or young adults onto their course without this information. Contact Student Services if you require a form.

Part Time Fee Grant

Application forms will be available from SAAS.  The college can advise how much you would normally receive, if you are eligible and how much you may have to pay towards your course fee, for further information please check eligibility;

Bring your form to college at enrolment where it can be stamped.  The deadline for submitting applications to SAAS is 6 months after the course start date.
