Due to exceptionally high demand, we are unable to accept new applications for General ESOL courses starting in August 2026.

Improve Your English Skills

Our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses help you develop the language skills you need for everyday life, work and further study in Scotland.

You will build confidence in:

• Speaking and listening.
• Reading and writing.
• Grammar and vocabulary.
• Pronunciation.
• Everyday communication skills.

Our courses are designed to support learners at different levels, helping you progress at a pace that is right for you.

We offer ESOL courses at 7 different levels, from SCQF Level 2 to SCQF Level 5, helping learners develop their English skills from beginner to advanced level.

Most levels are available through Part-time study - 4 classes per week

• Literacies
• Beginners
• Elementary
• Pre-Intermediate
• Intermediate
• Upper intermediate
• Advanced (Higher ESOL - for example, you have an A or B pass at ESOL National 5, or IELTS 5.5).

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

• Short interview and test: After you apply, we will invite you to a short interview and English test.
• Find the right class: We will use your test results to choose the best ESOL class for you.
