Overview

Are you an international healthcare professional looking to practise in Scotland? Take the next step with our OET Course - ESOL for Medical Professionals course designed to help you succeed.

Delivered by City of Glasgow College in partnership with Bridges Programmes, this specialist course is tailored for doctors and healthcare professionals who need to develop the medical English skills required for the Occupational English Test (OET) - a key milestone towards professional registration.

This 18-week course is delivered online to help prepare you for the OET. You will have a full mock test at the end as well as access to a virtual learning environment to supplement your study. 

Dates and Times

Two classes will run for 18 weeks starting Monday 24 August.

  • Monday to Wednesday from 0900 - 1215.
  • Monday to Wednesday from 1300 - 1615.

Cost

There is no cost if you are eligible for a fee waiver.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

This course is designed for participants aligned with the Refugee Doctors Programme or similar pathways. To join, you should:

  • Be a qualified doctor or healthcare professional with previous clinical experience.
  • Have completed an internship (minimum 12 months) or have at least 2 years’ post-graduate practice.
  • Currently live in Scotland.
  • Have practised your profession within the last 10 years.
  • Have an English level of at least intermediate (or equivalent).
  • Be working towards OET and GMC/UK professional registration.

This course is particularly suitable for those preparing for or enrolled in the Refugee Doctors Programme, which supports doctors to progress through OET, PLAB exams, and NHS employment
