Steff Travers
My practice explores the invisible threads that connect people. Drawing on the mythology of the red string theory, I transform intangible relationships into physical and spatial forms that twist, intertwine, and weave. The colour red plays a central role in my visual language, symbolising both emotional intensity and the bonds that tie us together. Through repetition and process-led making, the act of creation becomes a meditative act of responding. The process becomes part of the artwork.
Exhibition Statement
Influenced by the mythology of the red string theory, I explore human connection, entanglement and fate. Lines twist and overlap forming networks that are both structured and unpredictable. Repetition, combined with elements of chance, reflects the shifting nature in ways connections are obtained. This work brings these unseen threads into a physical form, inviting the viewer to consider their own networks and relationships.
