I am a Glasgow-based analogue designer whose practice centres on tactile processes and hands-on experimentation. Working beyond purely digital methods, I prioritise authenticity, texture, and the subtle imperfections that analogue techniques introduce into visual storytelling. My approach embraces physical materials, iterative making, and direct engagement with tools, allowing ideas to evolve through touch and process. This way of working is rooted in a deeper connection between concept and outcome, resulting in visuals that feel considered, human, and materially grounded. Through analogue methods, I aim to create visuals that communicate with honesty and richness, and possess a distinctive sense of presence in contemporary creative practice.Â
Project description Â
This project, “Creativity Will Survive,” emerged from growing concerns about the rapid rise of generative AI in creative industries and its implications for human authorship. In response, I chose traditional sign painting as a protest medium, using its handcrafted, imperfect qualities to foreground the value of human skill. I also researched with collage to imitate how AI often struggles to render faces without mistakes, alongside researching texture, which is an area where AI often lacks depth and sensitivity. These analogue approaches highlight the value of process, imperfection, and materiality, reinforcing the importance of preserving authentic, human-centred creative practices in an increasingly automated visual culture.Â
