Sandra Socko
My name is Sandra Socko, and I am a Polish photographer currently completing a BA (Hons) in Photography. Working within fine art photography, my practice explores still life, abstraction, and the transformation of everyday subjects through colour, texture, and movement. I am particularly drawn to Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), using experimental techniques to create atmospheric and dream-like imagery inspired by nature, floral forms, and architectural spaces. Coming from an art and design background, I approach photography with a strong interest in composition and visual aesthetics. My work invites personal interpretation, encouraging viewers to engage emotionally with abstract forms and shifting perspectives.
End of Year Project
“Shape of change”
This project explores change and transformation, examining how attempts to preserve or control beauty can instead alter it or disrupt it. Focusing on the fragile nature of organic forms, the work reflects on how time inevitably reshapes what is perceived as beautiful. Using dead and decaying flowers as a central subject, the images challenge traditional associations of beauty and vitality, revealing quieter forms of beauty within deterioration and imperfection. Through abstraction and image inversion, the work moves beyond direct representation, creating ambiguity and encouraging personal reflection and emotional engagement from the viewer.
