City alumna is recognised by Scottish Parliament for award winning chocolate business

City of Glasgow College alumna Chloe Oswald has been recognised by MSP Tess White in Scottish Parliament for her outstanding success in winning the Guild of Good Food Great Taste Award for her handcrafted chocolates. Seven of her products received Great Taste awards for 2023, including three 3-stars, one 2-star and three 1-stars!

Chloe, who studied her HNC Patisserie in 2014, has gone from strength to strength in her culinary accomplishments. From gaining significant experience under late Michelin starred chef Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, to founding her own independent business as a creative outlet during the pandemic.

Based in Forfar, Angus her business Chocolatia has quickly become a well-established producer of luxury chocolates that focuses on high-quality, local and seasonal produce.

As a College, it is always a joy to hear of the successes of our alumni. Chloe stated:

“I am honoured that my achievements have been recognised at such a high level. City of Glasgow College is where I first learned to work with chocolate and my experiences training with my lecturer Aileen O'Meara for WorldSkills UK massively helped me specialise in chocolate in my career going forward. Attending the college was a fantastic experience with lots of opportunities and I recommend it to anyone interested in a career in Hospitality”.

The HNC Patisserie aims to build culinary skills to an advanced level, focusing on specialist patisserie subjects and providing students with the knowledge needed for a supervisory role. Aileen O'Meara, Curriculum Head for Culinary Arts & Bakery at the College recently celebrated the third anniversary of her company and stated:

“I am so incredibly proud of Chloe and all that she has achieved in her career so far, to now be recognised by Parliament is outstanding and a testament to her hard work and work ethic. It was a privilege to teach and train Chloe for Squad UK in WorldSkills, and watch her grow in confidence and improve skills every step of the way, skills that are now being recognised in the multiple awards that she has won”.

Having Chloe as an Alumni of the college is inspirational for our students and exemplifies what can be achieved through dedication and commitment. I wish Chloe continued success with Chocolatia, I'm sure there will be more awards to come!
