City of Glasgow College Celebrates Lecturer Excellence Success
City of Glasgow College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of two of its hair and beauty lecturers, Karen Hyslop and Emma Greer, whose expertise and commitment played a pivotal role in the successful evolution of the Lecturer Excellence Programme.
Karen and Emma were invited to take part in the programme as members of an early test group, a role that extended far beyond participation alone. While completing the course themselves, they provided invaluable insight, constructive feedback, and practitioner expertise. Their contributions were instrumental in shaping and refining the programme, ensuring it remains relevant, rigorous, and reflective of the real needs of educators, learners, and the wider industry.
Their success was formally recognised last week at L’Oréal Headquarters in London, where both lecturers were celebrated for their professionalism, dedication, and influential role in supporting the programme’s development at a national level.
May Donald, Associate Dean for Hair, Beauty, Complementary and Spa Therapies and Makeup Artistry, commented:
“I am incredibly proud of Karen and Emma for their dedication, professionalism, and the insight they brought to the Lecturer Excellence Programme. Their contribution has helped shape a stronger, more relevant learning experience for educators across the sector. Seeing their achievements recognised at L’Oréal Headquarters in London was a powerful reminder of the talent we have within our College and the impact our staff can make on national programmes. Their success reflects the commitment we hold to excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within our teaching community.”
The Lecturer Excellence Programme strengthens teaching practice, enhances industry understanding, and builds capability in delivering the Colour Keys — clarity, creativity, connection, confidence, and consistency. Through their commitment and expertise, Karen and Emma have helped ensure the programme continues to grow in impact, relevance, and educational value.
City of Glasgow College extends its heartfelt congratulations to Karen Hyslop and Emma Greer on this well-deserved recognition. Their achievements highlight the exceptional talent within our teaching community and reinforce the College’s ongoing commitment to excellence, industry collaboration, and continuous professional development.
