College Strengthens Global Ties with Kenya Trade Mission

Douglas Thomson, Head of Business and International Development at City of Glasgow College, participated in a high-profile trade mission to Kenya last week, organised by the Scottish Africa Business Association (SABA).

The mission offered a prime platform to showcase the College’s international work in technological and vocational education and training (TVET) and to explore opportunities for future collaborations with Kenyan organisations and businesses.

The visit culminated in the UK–Kenya Business Forum 2026, expertly hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya (BCCK). The forum brought together leaders from government, industry, and education to deepen UK–Kenya trade and investment partnerships.

Reflecting on the trip, Douglas Thomson said:

"Throughout my time in Nairobi, I have been hugely impressed by the energy, vibrancy, and ambition that is driving Kenya forward. The country has set bold targets for economic growth and development, and achieving this vision will require a strong and future-ready skills development pipeline. City of Glasgow College is well placed to support this through our expertise in industry-focused training and global partnership working."

The College looks forward to building on the connections made in Kenya, furthering its international reach, and supporting skills development that meets the needs of a rapidly evolving global economy.
