Craftex exhibition at V&A Dundee

Students from City of Glasgow College’s Furniture Design & Restoration course are set to take centre stage at the V&A Dundee this Autumn as part of Craftex 2025: Furniture, Creativity & Craftsmanship. The exhibition runs from 15 to 30 November 2025 and is free for visitors to explore.

Hosted in the museum’s Designer in Residence Studio, the exhibition celebrates the creativity, innovation and technical skill of emerging designers. It features ten beautifully made pieces of furniture from City of Glasgow College students, alongside the Gold Medal-winning piece, the Tsunami Bench by Robin Frowley, which has already earned acclaim for its bold design and meticulous craftsmanship.

Craftex 2025 is presented in partnership with the Trades House of Glasgow, an organisation with a long-standing commitment to promoting excellence in craft, trade and design. The collaboration highlights the ongoing relationship between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creativity, offering visitors an insight into the next generation shaping Scotland’s design landscape.

Among the talented student makers showcasing their work are Mina Brennan, Emmaly Crimmel, Laura Gardner, Jakub Jasinski, Emily Noble, Sandra Pryde, David Robinson, Tilly Russell, Doug Thomas and Daniel White. Each piece reflects a unique approach to design, exploring sustainability, function and form through the use of high-quality materials and traditional techniques.

Lecturer Scott Harvey from the Furniture Design & Restoration course, said:

“Our students have worked incredibly hard to develop their craft and creative voice. Exhibiting at the V&A Dundee is a remarkable opportunity to share their work with a wider audience and to demonstrate the exceptional talent being nurtured at City of Glasgow College.”

The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 5pm and offers a rare chance for visitors to see up close the level of skill, care and creativity that goes into contemporary furniture making. Whether you’re a design enthusiast, craft professional or simply curious, Craftex 2025 is an inspiring celebration of the artistry and innovation thriving within Scotland’s next generation of makers.
