Good Luck to Louie Forsyth at the Young Chef Olympiad 2026
City of Glasgow College is proud to announce that Louie Forsyth, a Year 2 HND Professional Cookery student, will represent the College at the Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious international culinary competitions.
Taking place in India from 1–6 February 2026, the Young Chef Olympiad brings together talented young chefs from more than 50 countries, offering a unique global platform to showcase culinary skill, creativity and cultural identity through food.
Louie has been selected following his outstanding performance, dedication and commitment to excellence throughout his studies. He will be supported throughout the competition by Kenneth Hett, Lecturer in Professional Cookery, who has played a key role in preparing Louie for this international challenge.
Kenneth praised Louie’s talent and attitude, saying: “Louie represents the new generation of culinary talent. He is curious, fearless and committed to excellence. Preparing for the Young Chef Olympiad in India is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of skill and passion.”
As part of the competition week, Louie will also take part in the United World of Young Chefs initiative, where competitors present their national dishes to an international audience of industry leaders, chefs, diplomats and media representatives across five major Indian cities. The initiative celebrates cultural exchange, sustainability and innovation, uniting nations through the universal language of food.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Louie said: “Competing at the Young Chef Olympiad is a dream, and I am proud to represent Team Scotland. I am grateful for all the support I have received, and I’m giving everything I have to make the most of this opportunity.”
The College’s participation has been made possible thanks to the generous support of The Savoy Educational Trust, which has provided over £2,000 in funding to support travel to India and new competition uniforms for both student and staff.
This opportunity marks a significant milestone in Louie’s culinary journey and highlights City of Glasgow College’s continued commitment to developing talent capable of competing and succeeding on the world stage. Everyone at the College wishes Louie and Kenneth the very best of luck as they represent Scotland and City of Glasgow College at the Young Chef Olympiad 2026.
