Graduate Success Recognised at CIOB Scotland Awards
There was cause for celebration at this year’s CIOB Scotland Awards, where Graduate HNC Architectural Technology with Digital Conduction student, Jaimie Steele, was recognised for his outstanding achievements in the construction industry.
The CIOB Awards in Scotland is an annual event hosted by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to celebrate the exceptional work of construction professionals across the country. The awards are an inclusive event, open to both CIOB members and non-members, celebrating excellence and innovation in all areas of construction.
Jaimie, who was nominated by his team at the Graham Group, was a finalist for the prestigious CIOB Graduate of the Year Award. From hundreds of nominations submitted from across Scotland, only five finalists were selected by a panel of multidisciplinary judges.
Although the judging process is entirely independent and confidential, the result brought great pride to those who know Jaimie. He received the Highly Commended Award, an exceptional achievement given the calibre of entries and competition this year.
The Graduate of the Year Award recognises students graduating in 2025 from a built environment-related course at HNC level or above. Nominees are assessed on their academic progression, consistency, course performance, and their commitment to personal and professional development, including leadership, industry engagement, and extracurricular involvement.
Lecturer Laura Gillies, who attended the ceremony, expressed her pride in Jaimie’s success:
“It was fantastic to see Jaimie recognised for his dedication and professionalism. He’s thriving in his new role, clearly content and happy. Moments like this are a reminder of why I do my job.”
Congratulations to Jaimie on this well-deserved recognition and for representing the College and the next generation of construction professionals with such distinction.
