Supply Chain Operations NPA (Level 5)

Whether it is fast-food restaurants running out of chicken, loo-roll shortages in supermarkets or a ship getting stuck in the Suez Canal, Supply Chain Management has regularly been in the news during the pandemic.  But what is it?

Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the process of overseeing and controlling the movement of goods and services from manufacture to the customer. SCM is also used to support medical missions, conduct disaster relief operations, and handle other types of emergencies.

During this course you will explore the typical structure of supply chain models and their constituent parts, and identify potential problems within these models.  You’ll have the chance to develop a range of skills, apply your knowledge to real-life case studies and provide solutions to current issues.

You will examine how issues relating to the delivery of orders are dealt with and the legal and organisational requirements of processing orders. You will explore the procedures for dealing with returns whether related to faults or sustainability.  You will investigate the measures being taken to improve the efficiency of supply chains and to protect the environment.  You will explore the environmental costs of 'fast fashion' and global sourcing and investigate how organisations respond to Corporate Responsibility.

This course benefits from industry partners providing guest speakers, real-life experience and the opportunity for site visits.
