City Market

City Market is open to the public as follows:-

  • Monday - Thursday from 12pm - 5pm.
  • Friday from 12pm - 4.15pm.

Most days we have a selection of baked goods for sale and occasionally fresh meat. 

As a regular part of their coursework students create a range of cakes, scones pastries, bread and rolls for the City Market Bakery which has proved to be very popular with members of the public and a welcome addition to Cathedral Street.

Our City Market Bakery provides an excellent real-world learning experience for the students. They must turn around real-world baking within a specific time and to a consistently high standard, and they are seeing immediate results when people not only buy their produce but return and become regular customers.

Award Winning Bakers

At the recent Scottish Baker of the Year Awards, four students from the College won a raft of prizes.  Martin Downs, Keavy Salt, Laura Hollywood and Ashley Gill represented the college’s City Market Bakery and beat off stiff competition from around the country to reach the finals.  Their St. Clements Cake was named best cake in Scotland under 80p, while the team took regional gold medals for their Strawberry Milkshake Scone and Light Rye Bread, as well as regional bronze for their white seeded bloomer.
